Directors Note

Desert/Exterior/Day is a character study of two people, who blinded by themselves keep running past each other. Their attempt to get closer to each other fails due to their beliefs. The film is set up as an experimental set-up. The film doesn't aim to draw conclusions, which enlighten, or provide solutions for the viewer. The film is a study of the isolation of characters, reflecting developments in our societies.

I am interested in the struggle of the two characters, oscillating between intimacy and distance, unable to seek their desires in the other. I am interested in what happens to language when they reach a dead end and keep talking. I am interested in how they are stuck in their roles, creating illusions to impress themselves and the other – believing to listen to each other, or revealing something of themselves, they do nothing of the sort. I am interested in their self-delusion!
